Andrew Squire

Andrew Squire trained as an architect at Manchester University in the 1970s. At that time the influences of classic Modernist design and the beginnings of the radical community architecture movement were prevalent and these were to shape his development as an artist in the creative melting pot of 1980's Glasgow.  His current work has evolved into a style which is rigorously structured in terms of colour and composition, whilst reflecting a wide range of concerns and interests, not least the many facets of sustainability and ecology. He is an ambassador for the World Land Trust.

His close chromatic harmonies and expressive reduction to the essentials of each subject are underpinned by keen observation, superb draughtsmanship and a charming visual wit. These new paintings are a life-affirming celebration of the diversity and vitality of the Scottish Highlands, where Andrew lives and works. At the same time, as with the close study of any place, they offer a reflection on the richness, and fragility, of the wider environment we all share.

Andrew Squire is represented at Wimbledon Fine Art by Judy Stafford of Stafford Gallery. For further information visit www.staffordgallery.co.uk or call 07939 048 436
